Settlement Music School will hold its annual Open House June 8, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The event will occur at each of the music school’s branches, including its Willow Grove branch, located at 318 Davisville Road in Willow Grove.
According to a press release about the event, the Settlement open house is where prospective students get to try out instruments, talk to teachers about specific instruction, participate in demonstrations and sign up for summer camps and fall lessons.
The release further states that new adult classes, such as “Adult Rock Band and World Rhythms Workshop” will be featured along with two brand-new offerings for preschoolers — “Children’s Music Playshop,” a music class for parents and children ages 6 months to 3 years, and “Kaleidoscope Plus,” an afterschool program for ages 3 through 3rd grade that mirrors Settlement’s award-winning pre-school program that prepares children for kindergarten through an arts-integrated program.
Unique summer camps will also be showcased, like the PECO Summer Jam Camp for aspiring rock stars, Summer Dance Camp and Summer Chamber Music Camp.
According to the release, Settlement is a vital force in the communities its serves, bringing together an enormous diversity of students and providing many opportunities otherwise unavailable to them. Settlement awards close to $2 million annually in aid.
The Open Houses will feature numerous student and faculty music and dance performances, percussion and jazz workshops, the chance to try out a children’s music workshop and there will be a “Cello-bration” at the Wynnefield and Willow Grove branch with music performed on many types and sizes of cellos.
