Linder Opticians was honored at the annual Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce luncheon for reaching its centennial year of business.
“How many people know a business that’s been in the same family for 100 years?” John DiMarzio, Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce president, asked. “It doesn’t happen very often.”
The family-owned business also celebrates its 51st year in Willow Grove, located at 321 Easton Road.
Accepting the chamber recognition was Marilyn Linder, whose grandfather opened the business’ first store in Philadelphia.
As previously reported in Patch, Linder’s brother also runs a Linder Opticians store in Spring House. Their grandfather had designed a trial test lens case for eye physicians, used at Wills Eye Hospital and other teaching institutions.
Linder Opticians’ Willow Grove location will further celebrate the centennial anniversary with an open house May 24.
