Arguably the most wonderful time of the year is upon us in the weather world. With apologies to Andy Williams, I think September and October are much more "wonderful" since days are still mild, humidity is low, and one can fully enjoy the weather without sweating or freezing.
This week marks the first of those weeks, thanks to a front on Saturday that blew through the region and pushed the tropical humidity out of here. Instead of dew points in the 70s, high temperatures will be in the 70s for both Monday and Tuesday. With dew points much lower, nighttime temperatures will also drop off quite a bit. Expect 40s in the offing for the burbs on Monday and Tuesday nights. The upcoming couple of days will be the coolest we've been since June and for those who hate humidity, feel free to celebrate.
The cool start to the week will modify as high pressure moves off the coast and allows a warming trend for Wednesday through Friday. We won't see the 90s, but mid 80s are certainly possible by Thursday. However, humidity levels will remain quite modest and should allow for a comfortable (but warm) second half of the week.
There could be a shower or storm for Saturday or Sunday as a front approaches the region from the northwest, but as of now this front does not look terribly strong as it approaches the region and should only produce scattered shower or storm activity. A more vigorous low looks to develop early next week as the front slips to our south, bringing a more substantial chance of rain to our region at some point next week.
