For the first time in a decade, the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology will unveil its first new program.
EASTERN will institute an Office Management program that will be available for the 2013-14 school year. It will serve to prepare students for careers in professional office management. The program will provide a computer, office equipment proficiency and organizational skills necessary to succeed in today’s business environment.
“EASTERN’s Office Management program can help students prepare for a rewarding career in a school, hospital, government or corporate office, and/or give you a head start on a college degree in business,” said Thomas Allen, EASTERN’s Administration Director. “Trained administrative professionals are needed in the local job market, and we want to provide our students with the tools and training needed to have a critical edge when seeking an office management position.”
Students interested in the program will want to pursue their careers as an Office Manager, Administrative Assistant, Data Input Specialist and Customer Service reps. Students will also have the opportunity to qualify for advanced placement college credit at Montgomery County Community College’s Office Administrative Program.
The program aims to improve student’s computer skills through spreadsheets, composing correspondences, creating presentations, reports and documents using desktop publishing software and digital graphics. Students will use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
This program is open to all junior and senior high school students in Eastern Montgomery County. Registration cards can be found on EASTERN’s homepage – www.eastech.org.
