If you plan on using the Pennsylvania Turnpike through Willow Grove this weekend, you may want to avoid nighttime travel.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has said that Easton Road will be closed and detoured between Fitzwatertown Road and West Mill Road in Upper Moreland on Saturday, March 9 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, March 10.
Loftus Construction will be removing steel beams from the Turnpike mainline bridge located a half-mile south of the Willow Grove ramps.
Traffic will not be permitted through the construction zone between Maryland Road and Wyandotte Road until Sunday morning. Only local traffic on Easton Road will be permitted through the detour.
The PennDOT-approved detours to use are:
- South - Follow Easton Road (State Route 611); turn left on West Mill Road; turn right on York Road (State Route 263); turn right on Fitzwatertown Road. Detour ends at Easton Road.
- North – Follow Easton Road (State Route 611); turn right on Fitzwatertown Road; turn left on York Road (State Route 263); turn left on West Mill Road. Detour ends at Easton Road.
Due to the recent snow, however, if construction can’t be completed on Saturday night, Easton Road could be closed on March 10-11.
